Theology of the Body

POPE JOHN PAUL II's Theology of the BoDY

God ¡§impressed His own form on the flesh¡Kin such a way that even what was visible might bear the divine form.¡¨ (CCC #704)

LOVE, TRUTH, DIGNITY, FREEDOM, GIFT, COMMUNION, PERSON¡K¡K¡K¡K¡K¡K.

Theology of the Body is Pope John Paul II¡¦s integrated vision of the dignity and destiny of human beings. His vision is based on his profound reflections on Scriptures, especially on the Gospels, Genesis and Ephesians. John Paul II discusses who man was in the beginning, who he is now (after original sin), and who he will be in the age to come. He then applies this message to the vocations of marriage and celibacy, in preparation for the Kingdom of Heaven .

These reflections were first written in a book entitled ¡§ Man and Woman He Created Them: A Theology of the Body¡¨ when he was Cardinal of Kracow. When he was elected Pope, he divided his book into 129 Wednesday audiences, which were given between the years 1979 and 1984 to all the faithful.
